Are you in crisis right now? Your life is falling apart, brick by brick? Big choices looming on the horizon for you? Sitting on the fence, not knowing which way to fall? Gas prices have ‘transformed’ from $1.50 to $3.00 a gallon. Iran is thumbing its nose at the world and going online with nuclear plans for a bomb. Israel and Lebanon had a one month war and is now on a shaky peace with one another. Bush’s idea of war in Iraq is sinking as Americans who voted for him are losing faith in the whole idea. The other 48% of us knew all along and antiwar demonstrations are growing stronger by the day for us to get out of Iraq. The stock market is quaking. The economy is just this side of possibly destabilizing. Korea has been firing off missiles. Ever get the feeling we’re in Chaos? Welcome to Pluto’s realm! And isn’t it fascinating that within two weeks of Pluto going direct, the astronomical world demotes him from a planet to an ‘ice ball’ in space. Even Pluto does not swerve from his own transformational energy. Whatever the world wants to call Pluto--guaranteed, he still works his transformative magic on all of us.
Have you been feeling the pressure of Pluto? It feels like something really big and heavy is SITTING on you and there’s no escaping it. That is Pluto’s energy. It can manifest in many ways: Gotta pull up stake and start your life all over again? Deciding to quit one job and start your own business (scary stuff!)? Feel as if you can’t take any more--that you’re overwhelmed and simply can’t carry one more brick on your huge load? You’ve been wronged, defrauded, lied too, cheated, manipulated? Well, hold on, Pluto is galloping to your rescue to vindicate you! Of course, if you were doing any of these things to anyone else--you’ll get what’s finally coming due to you because Pluto takes no prisoners. Welcome to Pluto’s realm!!! We have all just entered it since mid-August, 2006. Hold on to your hats, put your flack jacket on, strap in, because we’re in for a ride!
Well, then, transiting Pluto is triggering your natal chart. On September 4, 2006 transiting (daily motion of a planet) Pluto goes DIRECT. At that time, it will be at 24 degrees of Sagittarius. We are now in the “shadow” period of it going direct and I dare say, rivets are popping loose on people’s lives, right, left and center. Big “aha’s!” are being made. Life-altering decisions are being considered RIGHT NOW. Decisions that WILL change your life will be determined shortly. If any of this is happening to you presently, more than likely, you are being affected by transiting Pluto pulling direct as I post this. Read on.....
Who does that affect? If you know your astrology chart and what the glyphs mean OR if you know a professional astrologer who can help you to find out, here's who is affected by conjunction and opposite sign, Sagittarius:
Anyone born between December 13th through 19th of ANY year will be affected (they all have Sun in Sagittarius). Those most directly affected are those born on December 16th when their sun is at 24 degrees Sagittarius, which is where Pluto is at now, and will turn direct on. You life is in the midst of a change right now and I know you can see that--but the finalization of these transformations of it, are coming shortly.
By opposite sign,Gemini, those born between June 12th through June 18th, will be affected. Those Gemini's most affected will be those born on June 15th, when the Sun was at 24 degrees Gemini, directly opposite of where transiting Pluto is turning direct.
YOU HAVE A PLANET AT 24 DEGREES?
If you have ANY planet, or your ascendant or Midheaven at 24 degrees, you'll be affected. Anyone with planets or angles at 21, 23, 23, 24, 26, 27 or 28 degrees is affected. Positively, those who have signs in Libra, Leo, Aquarius, or Aries will either have a sextile or trine to transiting Pluto turning direct and good things will most likely be occurring to you; or at least, shall we say, opportunities will open up to you. Those with sextiles are most likely to get the goodies and opportunities. Those with trines, however, it may not be all that it’s cracked up to be. People with a Pluto trine are going to get too much of something--a deluge--and the question then is: are you in balance or are you in an extreme position? If you’re in an extreme position, a trine energy FEEDS this like a flood of water that goes right over the top of your dam, so to speak. It is too much of some THING. And it can mean you are out of control and try to take control as a result--which isn’t what you want to do. Pluto doesn’t want you in an extreme position--it wants you to SURRENDER OVER TO A HIGHER POWER--but will you? If you don’t, this can be a very upsetting day for you--in a big way. Again--it is your choice--give it over or fight to keep control and watch it explode on you. Whether you see this as good or bad, positive/negative, is up to you and your unique circumstance. Please read Grace Verte's excellent article on Pluto aspects (at the end of this article) to get a more in-depth feel for what the choices are on your table of Life presently.
If you have any 24 degree in the following signs: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn or Pisces you may be receiving either a semi-sextile, square, inconjunct or opposition which means there may be friction, instead, creating a door opening and opportunity to you--and not without, most likely, a little pain involved in the circumstance. Again, Grace Verte's article can help you understand, on a more detailed basis, what is going on presently with this contact(s). I will put this excellent article at the bottom of this article. Please contact her via email at: GraceVerte@Netsedona.com
NOW THAT WE KNOW WHOSE AFFECTED.....
The fact that you have transiting Pluto stirring up your personal Pot of Life, is enough to write an article on. I don't want to dwell on soft vs. hard aspects, or good vs. bad, or positive vs. negative, because I've seen, time and again, people who have the kitchen sink thrown at them come up fighting and make mud pies out the mud thrown at them. And I've also seen people who are given carte blanche on something cringe back for whatever reason and NOT take the opportunity! My slant and perspective, then, is how to work with the Pluto energy so that you can land on your feet and take advantage of the opportunity coming your way.
Because there is no doubt, transformation is knocking and will NOT be ignored.
Pluto just doesn't take "no" for an answer. Never did and never will. If you've been slowly, since it has been moving forward through the sign of Sagittarius (and all Gemini's are equally affected here), making changes in your little chrysalis called "you" or "home", then this retrograde isn't going to kick you all over the Cosmos.
However, if you're one of these people (Sagittarius or Gemini) whose been resisting mightily, digging in your heels, and have not changed due to FEAR over some "thing", then you are in for a big life change--abruptly and transformatively speaking.
Since I'm a Plutonian (I have my natal Pluto at 9 Leo and my Mars at 15 Leo in the 12th house, and since they are conjunct, I'm a Plutonian by nature) I can speak more closely to the 'bone' about Pluto than perhaps others can. I've seen Pluto energy upend my life as I knew it, turn me a hundred and eighty degrees in the opposite direction and push me off that away, in an instant or slowly over time. I've seen Pluto open me up deeply, layer by layer, and allow me the privilege of scoping out my own little treasure house that resides in each person (I call this Pandora's Box), and it has helped me to empower myself over time.
One thing I can say about Pluto that is a truism: IF you try to make the necessary changes that Life is asking of you on a personal level for your own health (spirit, mental, emotional), it will never harm you. Instead, Pluto is like a big, nurturing mama hen in the Sky cosseting you, supporting you in your baby steps towards transformation, and only good things occur as a result.
However, I can say, from experience, that if we allow our FEAR to direct our steps, and tell us where to go, instead of listening to that deep, inner voice and well within us (that is Pluto at its finest--our subconscious voice, our Pandora's Box where all our hopes, dreams, aspirations, wishes and vision of a future are like little seeds waiting to be planted and grow....) then Pluto will inexorably push you right over that cliff and you're going to go into a free fall until you land right side up on your feet where you NEED to be vs. where you THOUGHT you should be! Do NOT let the FEAR stop you this time--take advantage of Pluto going direct and trust and have faith even though you’re not sure of the outcome. The key here is to do what you need to do, despite your fear, and do your best. That is what is being asked: not perfection, not even ‘winning’--but TRYING. Pluto demands faith without a contract, so to speak. It is called surrendering over to a higher power and you’re along for the ride. You do your best on your part, during this ride, but it really is out of your hands insofar as outcome. Just stay present, live in the moment, take good, deep inhalations (that is receiving energy from the Cosmos--a good thing), and remain grounded. That is the best you can be during this transformative period.
Pluto's whole demeanor is about CHANGE. Now, you can opt to have change out of transformation gently or through CHAOS. It's your choice. Pluto doesn't mind doing it one way or the other, frankly. I can tell you that to save yourself a lot of pain, do it the butterfly way--keep cracking that hard, armored chrysalis that surrounds you (it surrounds all of us, more or less) so that you can begin to unfurl your butterfly wings and eventually, fly free to be yourself. After all, Pluto's whole intent is to get you in touch with your individualize SELF. And so many of us fear ourselves and what we don't know or realize/recognize about ourselves--so we entrench, we fight back, we refuse to budge.
Uncomfortable news....because Pluto doesn't take "no" for an answer. Those affected on this retrograde are being given a second chance to "come clean" and make the changes that Pluto is asking of you. This retrograde period lasted from March 30 through September 4, 2006 (where it turns direct at 24 Sagittarius). This is a not-so-subtle warning to those of you affected, to make the changes NOW, because when Pluto turns direct and furrows over the same degrees a few months later, all hell will break loose in your life, if you haven't. Now that it's turning direct, shortly, you've all had an opportunity to change…and I hope you have.
I have found in the past by observing transits of Pluto (believe me, I have a vested interest in this, since this planet "runs" my life for me....) that what has happened thus far to the people above who are affected, that some things, questions, decisions, have been slowly but surely brought to your awakening consciousness. And for whatever reason, you're not ready to leap out of the nest and fly and make those changes.
Okay...no problem. Pluto is going direct, going to ease off you and let you feel your way through all this information and conscious awareness in your life. It will continue to stimulate you on the deep, uncharted territory of your subconscious, so pay attention to your dreams and meditations during this time frame, too--for there are answers, maps and ways out of whatever dilemma or back-against-the-wall experience you're having presently. But now, the chewing of the cud, or of the situation or event in your life is over and you must make the decision here as Pluto goes direct.
SHADOW PERIOD FOR PLUTO GOING DIRECT
Right now, the pressure is on those affected--big time. We are in the “shadow” of it going Direct from August 15th through September 4th before it turns direct. It has given you time to feel and think and make the CHANGES. The changes will come on or before September 4, 2006. You are now in the turnstile of life and you will move whether it is dragged, kicking and screaming, or taking that leap of faith that will certainly propel you into better and bigger things. Faith is rewarded here. Fighting to the end gets a reward too--just not the good one you wanted.
For example, let's say that the last couple of months, your job sucks. You've been given more responsibility, no pay raise, and you're expected to work longer hours--not to mention, weekends! This leaves a bad taste in your mouth. You want a life. You have a family. You want to pursue your hobbies. Pluto puts the restlessness, the dislike, the ill-at-ease feelings every time you go to work--and it's been building until you're ready to walk off the job. And then, it goes retrograde. Things seem to ease and you think that maybe it will turn around--it won't, so don't fool yourself.
What Pluto is doing is giving you a breather from this "hand of God/Goddess" or this TRANSFORMER, to think about a PLAN OF ACTION that you're going to put into working order once it goes direct! So, you see, Pluto is very simple and straight forward about its energy. PLAN. Because when it goes direct on September 4, 2006, you must put your plan into ACTION. Decisions will be made--either for you, or you make them…take your pick. Hopefully, you utilized this period and are ready for the change that’s coming?
That means, you must move FORWARD with Pluto going direct on September 4th, not entrenched, not stay the SAME. It means making choices and having the guts to put them into action and stand up to be counted and tell the Truth. And guts is something most of us, viscerally, don't usually have a lot of. We usually think: I can't do that....I can't quit this job.... We get "guts" by being thrown from the frying pan into the fire by Pluto if we refuse to plan and initiate. So, the choice is ours. Do we fly out of our situation/nest on our own, or do you wait until Pluto comes, like a juggernaut, rolling down at you so that you have to leap out--without a PLAN?
You know, Pluto starts with a "P". So does, interestingly enough, "P"lan! No coincidence there! There's a great Marine saying called the 5 P's: prior planning prevents piss-poor performance. Because Pluto--which starts with a “P” also--will catch you with your pants down, expose our lies, fraud, and whatever else you were trying to hide or avoid.
That's Pluto's motto and tour-de-force. Let's see, another good saying for Pluto is: "No guts, no glory." Pluto is, after all, visceral. It is our old brain, the limbic brain, the animal brain. The survivalist. The scrounger. The scratcher and claw-er. And you must plug into these very old and never outdated animal survival senses and get right within you what is wrong and then make a plan to fix it. Pluto will help you make this connection with ease. And it’s greatest gift is FOCUS. When you are threatened, you are focused. And focus can save your life or help you make a better decision in the moment as a result.
Pluto, by its own good graces and amazing patience, is going to give you a second chance to initiate a plan beginning around the shadow period beginning August 15, 2006. So use the time wisely. Don't refuse to budge, grow, transform or move. Move! Change! (Just remember, it's always hard to hit a moving target than one that is sitting still! Words to the wise…)
There are some of you who will graciously make changes on September 4th--you're ready, so fly! Pluto usually will go 3 to 5 times over one position or degree when it retrogrades, then goes direct, and then may or may not retrograde and go direct over it again. Those who are "stuck" and afraid to move or make a plan, will have it at least 3 times or 5 times. But I can tell you the end of all of this. If you refuse to change/move/transform, by the LAST PASS of transiting Pluto over that position in your chart, Pluto will do it for you. And it won't be pretty. In fact, it will be visceral. And you will be thrown into survival mode.
Why chance it? Why not move/transform/grow now, rather than be dragged kicking and screaming to the changes that are really for your own benefit and health of well being? Why do we resist so much that which is really good for us, but we can't see it because we're so filled with fear? Even the Delphi Oracle would shake her head on us. Thanks to Pluto, it will not allow this kind of situation to go on forever.
PLUTO TURNING DIRECT ON A LUNAR ECLIPSE FULL MOON
This doesn’t happen often and it’s mightily significant. If there was EVER a FULL Moon that got a power kick this year, it is this one occurring on September 7, 2006. A full moon means things come to a head and pop open and decisions are made and acted/reacted too at that time. Add to this, it is an eclipse energy so that light is shined into each of us to illuminate a dark space in ourselves, so that we might become aware of it--and change it for the better, one hopes. Freewill choice here, as always. The Full Moon eclipse occurs at 15 Pisces 00 and 1:42 a.m., PDT, on Thursday. And the transiting Moon is in Pisces which is square Pluto in Sagittarius; so it’s going to be a day of blockages being blown open (think heart attack here for some individuals), push-comes-to-shove kind of energy that is going to be around. A square is an energy that means ‘stumbling blocks or building blocks’ time, expression and action by individuals. Virgos and Pisces and people, by proxy to this sky square between Moon and Pluto on September 7th, are going to get a tsunami of energy coming their way and seeing a lot of blockages or halts to things they wanted to move, get blasted open. Or, at the very least, you will receive openings and awareness upon which you can then act upon, accordingly.
For some, your feet are going to be held to the fire and only pain will force you to change or move. Just remember: you don’t have to go this route...you can SURRENDER to a HIGHER POWER, instead. And in doing so--you don’t get burned. So be prepared for some major shifts in your life or career because Pluto’s nuclear tonnage is behind this FULL Moon.
For the rest of us who aren’t in the direct line of fire, we can also take major advantage of this amazing transformation of energy backing the full moon eclipse. Ideas the week before the Full Moon (August 31st through September 4th) are going to be awesome and not come without BIRTHING PAINS. Yes, this is labor symbolically speaking, and no doubt about it, it can be uncomfortable as our birth occurs--RELIEF is in its wake of birthing this new baby (of thought, ideas, creativity, an aha, a mental/emotional/spiritual awareness, ect.)--so that is something to look forward too. Speak up and share your new ideas, perspectives or ways of looking at a task/idea/creative project. Be aware that any new projects started at this time are going to have MAJOR impact in the future--far more than usual, thanks to Pluto’s backing. And, you can also count that three months from now, roughly around December 7, 2006, that all this will materialize like magic for you. So, be prepared and ready to move on your ideas and vision--big time! The gates will fly open and the smart track runner jets off his or her blocks at that moment.
PLUTO THROUGH THE HOUSES
There are twelve houses in our natal chart. Your transiting Pluto is in one of them. If you know which one, look below at the keywords for that house and this is where you need to make plans, change, transform and grow. If you have your natal chart, just fine the house Sagittarius is on the cusp, and look at the degree. Put Pluto 24 Sagittarius in the correct house and then look below to see what that house rules over--and you’ll have a real good idea of where the ‘change’ is going to be coming from--and so you can be better prepared to make the changes.
If we don't change it on our own--Pluto will change it for us.

PLUTO AND HOW IT ASPECTS YOUR CHART by Grace Verte

Pluto is the planet that adds depth, strength or power, intensity or
obsession, will and insight to any planet which it contacts. Pluto is the
planet of transformation. Transformation means change, which is a death of
something so that a rebirth can take place. It is never easy, but we can
learn to direct and guide our inner energies to the highest good for our
own growth and for all those around us.
We can use our Plutonian energies to find lost objects, hidden memories,
and deeply buried secrets. We can also learn to work with anything
underground, such as oil, ducts,
subways, and sewers. Nothing is sacred or too disturbing for Plutonian
energies to tackle.
If we consider our presence here on Earth as an opportunity for soul
growth, then Pluto's energies are best used by swimming with the current.
Wherever Pluto makes an aspect to your chart, that area is intensified. If
we allow it, and go with the flow, deep transformation can take place
there. We can learn to transform demanding attitudes in ourselves. That
is the first law of astrology: to transform self, not others.
Hard aspects with which I will deal here are the conjunction, when the
planets are within 8 degrees of each other; the square, when the planets
are at a 90 degree angle to each other; the inconjunct, also called a
quincunx, when the planets are 150 degrees apart; and the opposition, when
the planets are 180 apart.
The planets represent the energies that are operating in our lives. The
personal planets which I will juxtapose to Pluto here are the Sun, the
Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.
CONJUNCTIONS
When Pluto conjuncts our Sun your will is intensified and you have strong
leadership qualities. Our work will be to learn not to impose our will on
that of others. To be open about our motives and our goals, despite the
secrecy under which Pluto likes to operate. Other people are not fooled,
only our leadership would suffer
If Pluto conjuncts our Moon it adds power to our emotions. At times,
especially when we are young, this can lead to intense feelings, of going
overboard with emotional reactions, and therefore being out of control.
If there is anything Pluto hates, it is feeling out of control. Pluto asks
us to deal with our control issues in this area of emotions. Emotions are
often held too much in check, and we must learn that we can express
ourselves calmly and warmly. This position also often translates into
being very hard workers in order to overcome being overcome by emotions.
The Moon also rules motherhood, nurturing, and dependencies which may never
have been satisfactorily resolved during childhood. Since we didn't know
what to do with these feelings then, we have an opportunity as adults to
allow them up to awareness, in order to deal with them now.
When Pluto conjuncts our Mercury the focus is on communication. We may
come on too strong, and expect others to abide by our
opinions. With this placement we can contact the deep parts of our Self,
solve mysteries, and allow into our consciousness what others may commonly
sweep or keep under the rug. It is also possible to have strong
disagreements and even breakups with our siblings. Thinking in circles or
obsessing about a subject or a person is not uncommon. This ability to
think deeply about things can be used positively by delving into the
esoteric mysteries of life.
When Pluto conjuncts your Venus the intensity is focused on our creativity
and our relationships. In the areas of values we need to transform our
feelings of self-worth, of possessions and possessiveness into a more
relaxed and self-accepting attitude. The power of Pluto is often exercised
in love relationships, so that we have the opportunity and the power to
resolve them into sharing and tolerance.
When Pluto conjuncts our Mars our power seems doubled. We may be faced
with issues of self-assertiveness vs.. aggression and deeply buried anger.
The sheer force of our will can then cause us to become ruthless because we
can so easily overlook everyone in our drive to achieving our ambitions and
goals in our life.
But our anger and aggressive feelings can be directed into responsible
leadership qualities, our fears can be turned into courage and risk taking
when needed.
SQUARES
Pluto squaring the Sun signals internal conflict to bring about change in
the way we express areas that serve our sense of who we are. The Sun rules
the will, the spirit and our individuality. Here the transformation is to
allow our true self to come to the surface in order to release any negative
attitudes, and to transform inner stress associated with the square to the
Sun.
When Pluto squares the Moon we are faced with emotional turmoil beneath the
surface, usually held in check by Plutonian will and power. When they
erupt, it is like a volcanic force erupting. Here we need to learn to
trust ourselves to govern our emotions. We also need to learn to trust
others, especially in relationships.
We also have an uncanny ability to tune in to mass consciousness with this
placement, as the Moon also rules the public when it is ruled by emotions,
not reason.
With Pluto squaring Mercury, it challenges our mind to learn to keep an
open mind where the opinions of others are concerned - we might even
enlarge our own "knowledge" base. The difficulty to be overcome here is to
learn to trust our own knowledge, and that of others as well.
Pluto squaring Venus indicates that we are to learn to transform our
values, be they material, mental, emotional or spiritual. Holding on to
our old ways is out and the path to transforming our sense of self-worth,
ideas (ours and theirs), possessions and friends, is through relationships.
It is often through a crisis of resentments and jealousies that will come
up from our inner turmoil that we get the opportunity for it to be resolved.
Pluto squaring Mars asks us to deal with problems around
self-assertiveness, anger, and to learn to control our energies. Others'
energies are usually not a match for our unceasing, goal-oriented energies,
and we need to be less demanding of others in our attitudes toward them.
To keep all these activities from depleting us, we need to be aware that we
need periodic rests.
INCONJUNCTS
(QUINCUNX)
Pluto inconjunct (qux = symbol in next paragraphs) the Sun. The sun is the
source of our vitality. Pluto here causes a disruptive need for ego
gratification and/or recognition at all costs. When we bring Plutonian
energies to the surface, as in becoming aware of them, we thereby defuse
their power and intensity. We can then allow them to play their supportive
role in our life.
Pluto qux the Moon describes our habit patterns. Pluto's best use in this
aspect is to learn discernment where our feelings are concerned. While it
is necessary to bring our very intense feelings up to our awareness, we
then need to find a satisfactory and safe outlet for them. A
transformation of our habitual responses to our feelings may be the answer.
With Pluto qux Mercury our thinking abilities are deep, but if used to
confuse people with words, and to keep them in awe of our ability to use
uncommon words, we are missing our potential. This is a good placement
for writing mysteries and for doing research.
When Pluto is qux Venus it often skews our ability to appraise values
correctly. We may have a mistaken view of people, such as hidden enemies
who pose as friends, or of our own self-worth. We need to learn to let go
of possessiveness and jealousy over people and material things.
Pluto qux Mars asks us to learn to adjust our wills so as to allow others
their way too, and to use our courage in bringing about inner change in
ourselves.
OPPOSITIONS
When Pluto opposes our Sun it can goad us into opening up to new visions of
ourselves. What we need to transform is our ego, our will, and our
stubbornness. Love heals all and Pluto gives us the strength to make these
changes. With loving hearts and Plutonian power together we can love
ourselves back into our original unity.
With Pluto in opposition to our Moon deep feelings of possessiveness or
jealousy will surface, and we are susceptible to great emotional mood
swings. Our emotions are deep and difficult to control with this position.
Here we can learn to allow ourselves the freedom to feel what we feel, and
to allow others the same freedom.
With Pluto opposing Mercury we can be very intolerant to others' ideas and
beliefs. It can bring about a crisis of faith for us. We may project our
anger by speaking about things better left unsaid. Or we may intimidate
people into avoiding any discussions with us.
We need to learn to rein in the deep and passionate power behind our words,
and to tolerate dissension.
When Pluto is in opposition to our Venus we need to learn to temper our
possessiveness and jealousy, and to check our need to control others, as we
also need to learn to not allow anyone to control us. Here we are faced
with a transformation of values, physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual.
The Pluto Mars opposition gives us the opportunity to learn to interact
with others in a harmonious way. With this placement we are very ambitious
and intense and goal oriented. This doubled energy of Mars and Pluto can
easily turn into stubbornness if we don't consciously make the effort to
listen to or to try out ideas of others.
In all the above ways, Pluto assists us in our self-healing process by
reaching issues that are deeply buried. Only by bringing them up to our
awareness and embracing our shadow, hard as that may be, can we be healed.
Face it, Embrace it, and Erase it.
Love and Light,
Grace

Love and Light,
Grace
